چکیده

This paper presents the principle of multimodal and multi-informational neuronavigation as well as the data fusion environment we have developed for these techniques. Our fusion environment supports the planning step and includes registration, segmentation, 3D visualisation as well as data browsing and interaction tools. We provide a neuronavigation system with relevant information for the performance of the surgical act. The information is extracted from multimodal data such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magneto-encephalography (MEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). We demonstrate multimodal neuronavigation on a clinical case with multimodal information injected in the overlay (head-up) display of a neurosurgical microscope (Surgical Microscope Navigator by CARL ZEISS, Oberkochen/ Germany). Our first experiences show that being able to access pre-operative functional and anatomical data within the neuronavigation system adds valuable support for the surgical act in many surgical contexts (cavernoma, low grade tumours, . . . ).

A data fusion environment for multimodal and multi-informational neuronavigation.

OBJECTIVE Part of the planning and performance of neurosurgery consists of determining target areas, areas to be avoided, landmark areas, and trajectories, all of which are components of the surgical script. Nowadays, neurosurgeons have access to multimodal medical imaging to support the definition of the surgical script. The purpose of this paper is to present a software environment developed ...

Intraoperative high-field magnetic resonance imaging, multimodal neuronavigation, and intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring-guided surgery for treating supratentorial cavernomas

OBJECTIVE To determine the beneficial effects of intraoperative high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), multimodal neuronavigation, and intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring-guided surgery for treating supratentorial cavernomas. METHODS Twelve patients with 13 supratentorial cavernomas were prospectively enrolled and operated while using a 1.5 T intraoperative MRI, multimodal ne...

Advanced new neurosurgical procedure using integrated system of intraoperative MRI and neuronavigation with multimodal neuroradiological images.

The purpose of this paper is to describe the newly-established technique in the field of neurological surgery for fusion imaging of three-dimensional magnetic resonance image (3D-MRI) and/or three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) for brain tumor surgery. Combining neuronavigation technology and intraoperative MRI, this method remarkably demonstrates spatial relationships of neurovascular...

Multimodal image fusion in ultrasound-based neuronavigation: improving overview and interpretation by integrating preoperative MRI with intraoperative 3D ultrasound.

OBJECTIVE We have investigated alternative ways to integrate intraoperative 3D ultrasound images and preoperative MR images in the same 3D scene for visualizing brain shift and improving overview and interpretation in ultrasound-based neuronavigation. MATERIALS AND METHODS A Multi-Modal Volume Visualizer (MMVV) was developed that can read data exported from the SonoWand neuronavigation system...

A Decision Support System for Urban Journey Planning in Multimodal Public Transit Network

The goal of this paper is to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) as a journey planner in complex and large multimodal urban network called Rahyar. Rahyar attempts to identify the most desirable itinerary among all feasible alternatives. The desirability of an itinerary is measured by a disutility function, which is defined as a weighted sum of some criteria. The weight...
